Keith Black (KB) 9.25:1 compression 1550 (std) Twin Cam Pistons. Heat treated, high strength, hypereutectic alloy pistons. These allow for a tighter fit because of less expansion. This also results in longer piston life. Wrist pins, locks and rings are included. For all '99-up Twin Cam 1550 motors. +.005" and +.010" are available. 10.5:1 is PN DS751286. 1450-1550 Cylinder bore. You can bore your existing cylinders to 95" and not have expensive paper weights (no one has a thicker cylinder liner available and if there were you would have to bore the cases). We use torque plates to bore in order ensure round cylinders when assembled (we do this on all cylinders for H-D's). You actually get a better cylinder if it has already been ran on a bike. The cylinder has already been heated up and cooled off several times. Once it is bored you have a cylinder that will stay straight longer. Green cylinders (New) tend to distort because they are new. We usually have exchange cylinders available for less downtime. Specify piston brand if not bought from us.

Cams Top

The right cam will do wonders for any Harley. Stock cams for late model bikes (Evo or Twin Cam) have little or negative timing (time at which cam opens/closes), short duration (how long valve is open) and low lift (how high valve is lifted off seat). This results in a short torqueband and not much horsepower (EPA likes it, thought). Choosing a cam depends on riding style, power needed, future plans for the bike, compression ratio going to and/or wanting to have, and what is already done to the bike. Listed below are some cams that we and customers have noticed a big improvement in hp, torque, throttle response and in general riding pleasure. Remember, bigger isn't always better. If you are looking for a different cam than what is listed feel free to contact us.

Suspension
Top

The proper suspension set-up make a night and day difference in how the bike rides and handles in the corners. Most factory suspensions come set-up for a 175-180 lbs. rider. New rear shocks, front springs are necessary to get the best ride out of the bikes. And, a modified motor can expose how weak the stock suspension really is. Or, if you do not mind losing the cornering clearance and some suspension travel, lowering is a popular way to get a custom look. NOTE: Lowering decreases ground, cornering and fender clearance. Use common sense when lowering and riding a lowered bike. It is recommended that you lower the front and rear the same amount for proper geometry.
